Coming from Stuttgart
Follow the B 29 and take the exit "Schwäbisch Gmünd-West/Großdeinbach." Drive through "Großdeinbach" until you get to "Wetzgau". In "Wetzgau", turn right at the Aral Gas/Petrol Station. From there sign-posts will direct you to "Schönblick". After a few hundred meters you will see the venue "Christliches Gästezentrum Württemberg Schönblick" on your right hand side.
Coming from Schwäbisch Gmünd
In "Schwäbisch Gmünd" drive on the B 298 in direction "Mutlangen". Follow the sign-posts to the "Stauferklinik" (this is a hospital). Then, follow the sign-posts directing you to "Schönblick".
PLEASE NOTE: Many German cities and towns have environmental zones requiring vehicles to be approved before entering the zone. While Schönblick Conference Center is outside the environment zone, if you plan to drive your car into or through Stuttgart city or Schwäbish Gmünd town area you will need to purchase an environmental sticker ("Umweltplakette") - this area requires the maximum 'green zone' rating for your vehicle. Please check with your national car/auto association for further information on vehicle eligibility and details on how to purchase a sticker. You may be fined if caught without a correct sticker displayed on your vehicle (once purchased the Green Zone sticker is valid for all other environmental zones across Germany and for all subsequent trips into Germany).
Rental (hire) cars: most of the main rental companies (Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National & Sixt) are available at Stuttgart and Frankfurt airports.
Stuttgart Airport is the closest international airport and is located about 70km from Schwäbisch Gmünd. It has a good range of connections all across Europe and the UK and some limited flights to the US. Frankfurt Airport (250km from Schwäbisch Gmünd) is also an option and as one of the biggest airports in Europe it is well serviced by all major airlines and many budget carriers as well.
Both airports have good train connections to Schwäbisch Gmünd, or car hire is available if you wish to drive.
By Rail and Bus
If you travel by train your destination is "Schwäbisch Gmünd" (main station). From Stuttgart Central Station (Stuttgart Hbf) the trip will take between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the type of train.
From Stuttgart Airport (the station is called - Stuttgart Flughafen/Messe) the travel time is about 1hr 15min. From Frankfurt International Airport travel time is between 2hr 15min and 2hr 45min. Schedules can be found on the link below and tickets can be bought at your originating station or booked online (booking fees apply).
You can plan your train journey on the German Rail website: www.bahn.de. You can book tickets ahead of time but just be aware of booking for a specific train - if you want to book ahead of time it may be better to book a standard fare which is valid for any train on that day of travel.
When you arrive at Schwäbisch Gmünd train station walk out and to your right there is the Bus station. Take Bus Nr. 6 "Schwäbisch Gmünd - Deinbach" with direction "Rehnenhof/Wetzgau" and get out at Bus stop "Rehnenhof Karlsbader Straße." 25 m down the road, you see the large car park area and behind it the main entrance/meeting hall of "Schönblick".
Please note to plan your return trip as well - the bus times are different and not as regular on a Saturday - here is the link to the Schönblick - Schwabisch Gmund Stadtbus.
