Speaker: Denis van der Bijl

Hi, I am Denis van der Bijl, born in 1961, married (Reinetta), with three children. Raised in a family where mission and church were a big part of life. Started my professional life as a group leader in a home for mentally disabled people. Worked fulltime for three of the European Mission conferences in the 80s and 90s. In 1996 we left for England to attend a two year Bible College. Early 1999 we moved to Pakistan where we lived 4 years to serve the huge Afghan refugee community. After our return to the Netherlands I was for 8 years full time involved in missionary work from the recruiting, training and sending perspective. Since 2025 I am fulltime pastor of a small church in Leeuwarden (in the North East of the Netherlands). In 2018 I joined the Dutch board of International Teams.

During this week we will focus on Nehemiah. One person with a vision went on a mission. Through ups and downs, successes, setbacks and opposition he came to a profound realisation: how faithful and good is our God. Hence the theme for this week: We serve a faithful God!
